When to visit the Okavango Delta

The Okavango changes character through the year. Water levels, wildlife movements, temperature and access all shape the experience.

June to October: classic safari season

Dry conditions concentrate wildlife while floodwater moves through many Delta channels. This is a popular period, so planning well ahead is wise.

November to March: green season

Summer rains transform the landscape. Birdlife is exceptional, newborn animals are common and dramatic skies reward photographers. Some activities and routes vary with conditions.

April and May: a rewarding transition

These quieter months often combine green landscapes, milder weather and the arrival of floodwater in northern channels.

There is no single best month for everyone. We match timing to interests, mobility, budget and preferred pace.
